CARma stands for:

Commuter Awareness & Responsibility in Metro Areas:

CARma's^TM mission is to help u-n-l-o-c-k gridlock and reduce the resultant toxic emissions that are poisoning our future. The 3Cs - Commuter education, Corporate participation and Community enforcement are the keys to unlocking gridlock. And the simple fact is - each of us holds one of the keys to unlocking gridlock.

How? Through small changes in our driving habits that will immediately help synchronize traffic flow: saving lives, lungs and livelihoods - reducing fuel consumption ($), carbon emissions (^) and commute time (!). Please scroll down to learn more.

Where do we begin? Well,  over 50% of our traffic jam gridlock is a result of minor unnecessary accidents and compression waves (mystery jams or bottlenecks) - which the majority are caused by one or a combination of the three-ills: illegal speed, illegal tailgating or ill-will. So to start, here are 3 easy steps we can all practice on our daily commute to help u-n-l-o-c-k gridlock:

> ease the pace
   you'll arrive faster by slowing down and keeping a steady pace

> leave some space
   you'll have less stop-n-go and a smoother commute by not tailgating

> encourage the merge
   you'll keep traffic moving by slowing down and letting your neighbor
   merge

Safety and your Driver's License requires that you drive a speed that is appropriate for the road conditions. Please, look 10 - 50 cars ahead and immediately slow down when you encounter:

> heavy traffic (don't race into gridlock to waste your brakes and fuel)
> rain and or fog
> snow or ice

Please remember these Laws when on the highway:
> KEEP RIGHT EXCEPT to PASS (courtesy will curb congestion)
> STEER IT or CLEAR IT (minor wrecks must clear the lanes)
> DO NOT PASS on the INSIDE LANES (dangerous and illegal)
